Scuba St. Lucia

Scuba St. Lucia at Anse Chastanet

Discover Saint Lucia’s Underwater World

Location, location, location. For divers, there is simply no substitute.

Set within the protected waters of the Soufrière Marine Management Area (SMMA), established in 1995 to preserve the extraordinary biodiversity of Saint Lucia’s reefs, Anse Chastanet offers direct access to some of the Caribbean’s most vibrant and diverse underwater ecosystems.

At the heart of this experience is Scuba St. Lucia, our PADI 5 Star Dive Operation and DAN (Divers Alert Network) Partner in Dive Safety facility, located directly on Anse Chastanet beach. Founded in 1981, Scuba St. Lucia has earned an international reputation for exceptional diving, personalized service, and a deep commitment to marine conservation.

The Diving

The Anse Chastanet reef begins just steps from the shoreline and descends into a spectacular underwater world of volcanic formations, coral gardens, sponge communities, and over 150 species of tropical fish.

Calm, clear waters ranging from 20 to 140 feet make the reef ideal for divers of all levels, while underwater photographers and macro enthusiasts are consistently captivated by the extraordinary marine biodiversity found here.

Look carefully among the coral formations and you may encounter turtles, octopus, peacock flounders, seahorses, frogfish, moray eels, lobsters, trumpetfish, puffers, schooling tropical fish, and countless other fascinating reef inhabitants.

The shore dive on Anse Chastanet Reef is required as an orientation dive for guests participating in boat diving. This allows divers to familiarize themselves with the reef, check equipment and buoyancy, and gain insight into the gentle diving practices that help preserve this protected marine environment for future generations.

Boat dives reveal even more dramatic underwater landscapes: the walls beneath the Pitons, Superman’s Flight, Coral Gardens, Jalousie, Piton Wall, Turtle Reef, Fairyland, Grand Caille, the wreck of the Lesleen M, Anse Cochon, and many more extraordinary dive sites.

Night dives, offered regularly on Anse Chastanet Reef, reveal a completely different world -octopus, squid, basket stars, bioluminescence, sleeping parrotfish, hunting crustaceans, and countless nocturnal reef creatures emerge after sunset.

Reef Life & Renewal – From Diver to Ocean Guardian

At Anse Chastanet and Scuba St. Lucia, we believe diving can be far more than recreation — it can inspire connection, awareness, and action.

Through our Reef Life & Renewal program, guests are invited to move beyond traditional diving experiences and actively engage with marine conservation, reef restoration, and ocean education. Our aim is to encourage guests to become Ocean Guardians during their stay — and long after they return home.

Set within the protected waters of the Soufrière Marine Management Area, our reef restoration initiatives include coral propagation, coral nursery maintenance, coral out-planting, lionfish management, marine biodiversity awareness, and educational outreach. These efforts are closely connected to our support of the Marine Health Alliance, an initiative helping strengthen marine conservation awareness and funding throughout Saint Lucia.

Guests may explore our coral nursery with one of our Marine Biologists, participate in guided Reef Revelations snorkeling experiences, attend complimentary Ocean Discovery Talks, or even earn a PADI Reef Rescue Specialty certification while assisting with coral restoration efforts directly on our house reef.

Additional experiences and specialty courses include:

• Coral Nursery Snorkels
• Guided Reef Revelations Snorkels with Marine Biologists
• Junior Marine Biologist Experiences for younger guests
• PADI Reef Rescue Specialty Courses
• Lionfish Removal Programs
• Dive Against Debris Specialty Courses
• Fish, Turtle and Coral Identification Courses
• Sea Turtle Awareness Specialty Courses
• AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Programs

These programs are designed to deepen appreciation for marine ecosystems while encouraging meaningful action to help protect them.

Whether discovering the reef for the first time or returning as an experienced diver, our marine team invites guests to see Saint Lucia’s underwater world through a new lens — not simply as visitors, but as stewards of the sea.
