Policy
Management is steadfastly committed to a policy enabling all work activities to be carried out without harm, and with all possible measures taken to remove (or at least lessen) risks to health, safety and welfares of workers, contractors, guests and anyone who may be affected by our operations.
Responsibilities of Management & Workers: Having an effective performance management process that supports employees’ performance, development and success.
Management Obligations:
- Having a duly functional health and safety committee
- Creating a safe working environment for all
- Tending to the services and welfare of workers
- Providing information, instruction, training and supervision that are reasonably necessary to ensure that each worker is safe from injury and risks to health
- A commitment to consult and co-operate with workers in all matters relating to health and safety in the workplace

Workers Obligations:
- Workers are to comply with safe working practices, with the intent of avoiding injury to themselves and others
- Workers are to take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and others
- Workers are to ensure they wear personal protective equipment and clothing where necessary
- Staff members are to comply with any direction given by management for health and safety
- Staff are to report all accidents and incidents on the job immediately, not matter how minor
Management seeks the co-operation of all workers, guests and others as we encourage suggestions for realizing our health and safety goals to create a safe working environment which is safe & accident free.

Policy Statement
At Anse Chastanet & Jade Mountain Resorts we pride ourselves in having long ago recognized that our environment is key to our success. Being an Eco-Tourism destination we have critically analyzed our foot print and have sought through the implementation of policies and training in addition to creative thinking to be one of the leaders in Saint Lucia with regards to minimizing our impact on the environment we operate in.
Implementation:
Our customers are given information about the culture, history, and ecology of the local region, including local environmental protection efforts and social and cultural activities. Information about the resort’s sustainability program is provided to customers, and we actively encourage customers to participate.
Guests are given the opportunity to partake in an environmental activity such as reef cleaning, beach cleaning and tree planting.
Signs or notices about the resort’s conservation and preservation efforts are clearly written and displayed in customers’ rooms and/or common areas (e.g., hotel lobby).
Customers are encouraged to provide written feedback about the resort’s sustainability program and general resort operations.
The resort regularly meets with members of the local community to ensure supplier operations support local and/or indigenous norms and customs.
The resort stores sell locally produced artwork, handicrafts and other local goods.
We ensure that all cleaning products in use are non-toxic, non-corrosive, and biodegradable.
We enforce strict wastewater discharge practices to minimize impact to the environment.
The resort operates a waste water treatment plant on-site and treats waste-water prior to reuse. The final stage is a terraced reed bed that through a natural process “polishes” the effluent water prior to storage for use as irrigation water.
The resort prevent the extraction of native flora and fauna. We consistently maintain natural waterways and have zero removal of trees to ensure that erosion and runoff are mitigated.
The resort help manage the protected near shore area – the entire near shore marine environment has been declared a marine reserve.
Anse Chastanet Resort is committed to continual improvement of environmental performance. This Policy will be communicated to all staff, contractors and suppliers, and is available for the public on our website.
Quality Assurance
Aim
Anse Chastanet Resort aim is to uphold our commitment to maintain maximum standard of quality in the manner we work, the service we offer, our relationship with our staff and customers and ensuring continuous advancement.
Policy
To maintain an effective quality assurance process and develop in union with management and staff to provide the maximum level of service in satisfying the needs of all our customers. This level of service will be achieved through quality management and having a system of procedures which reflects the proficiency of Anse Chastanet Resort in all business relationships.
Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of management to ensure that all quality assurance policy objectives have been made known to all employees, as the success of the policy is dependent on all team members who are independently responsible for work quality.
It is the responsibility of the owners to implement a management structure based on knowledge, quality and commitment of its management team to have a specific responsibility for ensuring that management structure reflects quality standards which is adhere to and maintained.
Safeguarding Children
Our Commitment
We at Anse Chastanet Resort are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and adolescents and we also anticipate all our team members, guests and volunteers alike share that same sentiments. The safety of our children is of paramount importance to us. Any signs of abandonment and or exploitation should and must be reported promptly to a head of department, human resources and or the authorities.
Principles
The safeguarding needs of our child or children are paramount, and the safeguarding needs of each child must be put first so that every child receives the support needed before a problem(s) intensifies. Our team will ensure that the child’s needs and mental state are taken into consideration when determining the cause of action(s) that should and will be taken to safeguard the child.
We will respect children, hear their concerns and ensure steadfast relationships with our team is built on trust and unfailing support for their individual safeguarding needs.

Support & Protections of Local Customs
Policy Statement
The Resort support the local community develop and build a better means of living is through direct local hiring, local purchasing and economic inclusion strategies to increase opportunities for the residents and improve their way of life.
Implementations
Nick Troubetzkoy (owner of Anse Chastanet Resort) was the instigator and founding member of the Soufriere Foundation, a non-government organization to benefit the Soufriere community.
Nick Troubetzkoy brought scuba diving to Saint Lucia, by creating the first professional scuba operation on island. This became the catalyst for marine awareness and the preservation of marine resources on Saint Lucia and was instrumental in the creation of the Soufriere Marine Management Authority.
The resorts provide education and training to the resort team in relation to supporting local businesses as a philosophy and practice.
It has been the philosophy of the resort owners to keep as much economic benefit as possible in the region. Since 1974, the resort has either made all furniture and furnishings locally, with local labour, or purchased them from local businesses.
Therefore, the majority of the resorts’ gross revenues remain in the local region since 1974.
The resort emphasizes local products with a purchasing plan that includes commercial relationships with small, local providers as much as possible.
The resort employ a 98% local work force. Additionally, the resorts encourage local residents to stay within the community, rather than seeking employment outside of the community.
99% of the resort’s employees have residency within 20 km (12 Miles) of the establishment.
The resort emphasizes fresh, local products with a purchasing plan that includes certified organic foods, sustainable agriculture eco-labeled foods, and locally produced foods.
The resort has provided guidance and training to local farmers. The resort operates an organic farm using certified seeds only to further support the locally purchased produce.
In addition to resort’s sponsored charity work, Karolin Troubetzkoy started a guest charity program 20 years ago that allows guests to support local charities, reaching from support of the senior citizen home, orphanage to buying school books for children.
The resorts actively encourages customers to visit small, locally-operated businesses and the excursion program is built around this.
The resort actively supports the maintenance of local infrastructure (water, roads, electricity, etc.) through economic or in-kind means.
