Summer time is just around the corner and the living is, as they say, is easy. And here in St. Lucia, the living is also exciting as we prepare for Soleil, Saint Lucia Summer Festival, an entire season of celebrations that highlights our island’s history, culture and cuisine.

Call us biased, but we think that Anse Chastanet – which celebrates the people, natural resources and culture of St. Lucia every day – is the perfect base for a vacation that includes attending at least one of these uniquely “Lucian” festivals.

Check out the lineup below (you can find more details here); find the one (or two!) that catches your fancy; and book your room now!

JUNE Are you into reggae, hip-hop, R&B and afro-punk? Then the Roots and Soul Festival, June 16 to 18, is definitely your jam. Head to Pigeon Island National Park for performances, master classes with artists and a music marketplace that will – literally! – be music to your ears. (And don’t forget to bring Dad; the 18th is Fathers’ Day, after all!)

JULY “Wine” your body and “wuk up” your waist during Saint Lucia Carnival, when the entire island is alive with day-long parades featuring soca music, colorful costumes and thousands of revelers marching the streets with joyous abandon. The action takes place July 17-18 (and if you’ve partied properly, you’ll need the rest of the month to recover).

AUGUST Whether you’re a discerning foodie or you just love to eat (us, too!), you’ll enjoy a bellyful of delicious local cuisine during our annual Food & Rum festival. Celebrating its 11th year, the festival celebrates local cuisine, rum, restaurants and culinary talent with a mouthwatering lineup of cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, dinners and community-focused culinary events. What can we say but “Yum!”

SEPTEMBER You might not know that St. Lucians have had a love affair with country and western music for decades, and our passion for old-school ballads still endures today. From September 15th to 17th you can sample it for yourself, as we welcome singers to our shores from all over the world. Because the appeal of a good “he/she done me wrong” story is universal.
